How to become a Divemaster
First you have to do is go through the diving courses from Open Water Diver to Rescue Diver. Depending on what your current diving certification is, this can be done in a few days but it won’t take longer then two weeks. You also have to do a first aid course, prior to the Rescue Diver Course. If you have done a first aid course within the past 24 month, be it at your driving license or your school or at the red cross, please bring your certification. If you’re not sure if your first aid certification is valid, contact us and we will be happy to check it out for you. Otherwise it will only take one day to make an Emergency First Responder Course on Koh Tao. To start the PADI Divemaster course you also need to have 20 logged dives.
What you learn in the Divemaster Course
In the PADI Divemaster course, you will first of al learn dive leadership skills through both, classroom, and independent study. You will have to complete several water skills and stamina exercises to see you fit for the job. You will do training exercises to develop your ability to organize diving tours and to solve problems if they occur. You will learn to help other scuba divers improve their skills above and under water. Finally you will put your knowledge and your new learned skills into action through a structured internship and a series of practical training exercises. The PADI Divemaster course will change your life and will make you a more confident and responsible scuba diver. The Divemaster course is the first step towards becoming an OWSI (Open Water Scuba Instructor).
